Avengers: Endgame is a whole lotta movie. Not only is it the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s longest outing, but it boasts almost every superhero that’s ever appeared in the franchise from Nebula, Ant-Man and Shuri to Captain Marvel and Iron Man.

So it’s easy to understand how viewers can miss certain things the first, second or even third time round–particularly when it comes to hidden Easter eggs.

Now, a rather elusive one has been unearthed and it involves a certain Captain America: The First Avenger villain…

Ahead of the movie’s home entertainment release, London-based VFX company Cinesite has shared a four-and-a-half minute showreel that features a clip of the scene where Tony Stark travels back to the former SHIELD base (aka his father’s workplace) in 1970 New Jersey to retrieve the Tesseract and some Pym particles.

As he walks through a crowded room of technological equipment, Dr Arnim Zola—the Swiss scientist who aligned himself with terrorist organization HYDRA during World War II –can be seen on one of the screens.

The glimpse adds context as to why Howard Stark later bumps into son Tony while looking for Zola.

In Marvel canon, Zola’s brain was uploaded to a computer system in the Camp Lehigh bunker after he died.

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Cap and Black Widow discover that Zola’s consciousness was still cooperating with Hydra but when corrupt SHIELD leader Alexander Pierce sends missiles to the location in an attempt to kill the two Avengers, Zola’s “brain” is destroyed.

Avengers: Endgame is out on digital download on August 19 and physical release on September 2, available to pre-order on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K now.
