ActorArnold Schwarzeneggerand Maria Shriver are said to have finally divorced over a decade after having split up.

Arnold, 74, and Maria, 66, tied the knot in April 1986, and went on to share four children together: Katherine, 32, Christina, 30, Patrick, 28, and Christopher, 24.

The pair’s relationship came to an end in 2011, however, after news surfaced that Arnold had fathered a child with the family’s former housekeeper of 20 years, Mildred Patricia 'Patty' Baena.

They said in a statement at the time: “This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us.

“After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion and prayer, we came to this decision together. At this time, we are living apart while we work on the future of our relationship.”

"We are continuing to parent our four children together,” they added.

"They are the light and the centre of both of our lives. We consider this a private matter and neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment."

Mildred gave birth to her and Arnold’s son Joseph just days after he and Maria welcomed their youngest child, Christopher.

The Terminator actor didn’t learn that Joseph was his son until seven or eight years after he was born.

Arnold admitted that the claims were true in his 2012 memoir, Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story.

Now, over a decade on from when Maria filed for divorce, the former husband and wife are said to have finalised it all,TMZreports.

According to the publication, it happened on Tuesday 28 December in the LA Superior Court and was mediated by a private judge who signed off Arnold and Maria’s divorce earlier this month.

As to why it took so long, it’s believed that it is partly down to the pair’s complicated property agreement.

Arnold and Maria didn’t sign a prenup before marrying, and are said to have now split their assets in half evenly.

According toThe Blast , the pair had an estimated net worth of $400 million.

Prior to the finalisation of their divorce, Maria and Arnold’s daughterKatherine announced that she was expecting her second childwith husband Chris Pratt.

Katherine and Chris already share 16 month old daughter Lyla, and their second child is due to be born in 2022.
