There are the layman fans, and then there are the superfans. While the layman fan may know the very basics of a certain actor or actress’s IMDb page, the superfan shows dedication in more subversive ways.

Take Alex Thomas-Smith, for example, who works as a standby on the West End production of the Tony Award–winning show Dear Evan Hansen. This past weekend, the performer unabashedly showed off their upper arm tattoo of Angelina Jolie to Angelina Jolie when the Academy Award–winning actress went backstage after the show. The tattoo—a portrait of the Maleficent actress smoking a cigarette―reveals titanic levels of superfan adoration.

“Today in WHAT IS MY LIFE, the beautiful Angelina Jolie came to Dear Evan Hansen,” Thomas-Smith wrote on Instagram. “I showed her my tattoo of her, done by the wonderful @courtneylloydtattoos and she loved it, SIGNED IT, kissed me on the cheek and said she would be back to see my Evan show.”

In the photos, Jolie laughs heartily as Thomas-Smith rolls up their sleeve to show the tattoo. In another picture, Jolie’s signature is scrawled in black marker at the bottom of her inked double.

“I will never recover from this,” Thomas-Smith continued in the caption. “Thanks to @nicoleraquel_d @lucy_anderson.1, @howveryhannah & @courtneyjstapes for the pics and for making me speak to her 😭❤️.”
