Although there’s so much you can do with a concealer, I was in the market for one with specific needs. I wanted something with fuller coverage with a skin-like finish, and it had to be long wearing and crease proof. I admit it’s a tall order, but I needed this to conceal my laugh-line area without having to layer on too many products. I have stubborn hyperpigmentation in that area, and it’s prone to creasing, especially if I laugh a lot. When Huda Beauty dropped its #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Buildable Coverage Crease Proof Concealer ($29), it seemed like a perfect match, so I had to put it to the test. I was already a fan of the #FauxFilter Skin Finish Foundation Stick, so I had high hopes for a concealer that’s part of the #FauxFilter line.

What I Like About the Concealer

What drew me to the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Crease Proof Concealer was its crease-proof and pigmented full-coverage wear. I used the shade Praline 6.3 Neutral, which is great for tan skin tones with a neutral-olive undertone. Depending on the amount of coverage you want, you can dot on a little bit and blend it out for something more natural or build it up for a flawless glam look. I prefer the latter. I swiped the product on my laugh lines, around my lips and chin area, and underneath my eyes. I only needed two thin layers to cover my laugh-line area, and it was easy to blend it out for a natural, skin-like finish.

The concealer has a creamy, blendable formula that feels weightless on my skin. It dries down to a soft matte finish, leaving an opaque veil of coverage that brightens up the area. The formula melts into the skin, filling in fine lines and blurring them out. It has vitamin E and sweet almond oil to help keep areas conditioned and moisturized. I was pleased with the flexibility of the formula. It truly does move with your face no matter how hard you laugh. You can go through a range of expressions as animated as emoji, and it still won’t crease. Plus, it’s waterproof as well, making it perfect for a sweltering-hot day. This concealer took me from day to night without needing to touch up frequently; it’s one of the best concealers I’ve used.

What’s Worth Noting About the Concealer

Although the concealer has a long-lasting wear, it’s not as transfer proof. By the end of the night, I noticed the concealer all over the inside of my K95 mask. But at the same time, the areas where I applied the concealer still looked seamless with a full-coverage wear. I didn’t notice any dark spots or hyperpigmentation peeking through. While testing this out, I had a dry patch on the right side of my chin, and I noticed that the area looked a little bit more cakey and textured than the rest. To remedy this, I made sure to use extra hydrating and moisturizing products underneath to serve as a good base.

Who Is the Concealer Best For?

This concealer is great for those who prefer something full coverage and glam. Whether you’re looking for something to cover dark spots and blemishes or brighten up the undereye area, this concealer can give your complexion a flawless appearance. It blurs out areas prone to creasing; for me, it’s the laugh-line area. Its luminous matte finish gives your complexion a skin-like appearance rather than something overly matte or dewy, so it complements a wide range of skin types. It’s great for those with normal to oily skin who prefer a natural finish. However, if you have a drier skin type with dry patches, you can still use this concealer as long as you prep your skin beforehand with hydrating products.
