A SHABBY beach hut has been snapped up for an eye-watering amount of money – but is it really worth it?

The ramshackle yellow and blue cabin in Westward Ho!, Devon, needs some serious repairs.

But nonetheless, 'Lazy Daze' as it's known, did not seem to deter a wave of prospective buyers.

In fact it was so popular it was snapped up within just two days after being floated on the market last week.

Simon Bright, Director of Bright's estate agents who sold the hut told DevonLive: "If we'd had four or five of them, we could have sold them all."

The property, which was "sold as seen", has chipped paint and a knackered roof.

Surrounded by a generous fenced off plot, it boasts stunning views out to sea in the popular south west resort.

It even comes with mains electricity and the right to access a water tap.

And at just 2.44m x 1.76m the shack sold for an extraordinary£30,000.

Following the sale, Mr Bright said: "Every time we get one, they go up in price."

It is not clear if the site has planning permission for another property to be built on top.

People took to Facebook to share their thoughts on the beach hut, but not everyone was impressed.

One person slammed: "Ridiculous price and so close to the ever eroding cliff."

Another ironically quipped: "Cheap."

While a third said they would prefer to spend their money elsewhere.
