NETFLIX viewers were left horrified branding true crime drama Cleveland Abduction as "one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever watched."

The 2015 film was recently added to the streaming service leaving a lasting impression on viewers.

The film documents Ariel Castro kidnappings, which took place in Cleveland, Ohio in the early 2000s.

The story follows 21-year-old single mum Michelle Knight, played by Orange is the new Black actress Taryn Manning.

She was the first of three victims to be imprisoned by Castro at his home and was trapped in his home for 11 years.

Eventually, Michelle becomes a friend and sister to two other women who are also taken captive by Castro.

Viewers were left unsettled by the dark storyline.

Taking to Twitter, one said: "Cleveland Abduction is one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever watched. There’s some sick freaks in this world."

Another wrote: "Watching Cleveland Abduction and I'm currently deeply disturbed."

A third penned: "So many tears, hardest movie I've ever watched."

Castro was eventually sentenced to life imprisonment plus 1,000 years in prison, without the chance of parole.

However, he committed suicide in his prison cell just one month after he was found guilty.

Cleveland Abduction is available to watch now on Netflix.
