BILLY JOE SAUNDERS has copied pal Tyson Fury in buying a £166,000 Ferrari Portofino two days after the Gypsy King showed off his new red motor.

The former unified heavyweight champion paraded his Italian whip in Stevenage recently on the way to the Lamex Stadium to watch Boro face Cheltenham.

And Saunders, 29, has now treated himself to the same sports car as he showed off his vehicle in a video on social media.

Both men share the same trainer in Ben Davison, and after parking his 200 mph Ferrari next to Fury's, the southpaw quipped: "Buy one get one free."

A delighted Fury, 30, spotted both cars outside the boxing gym, and joked: "Oh s*** we did it again.

"I go out and get a new Ferrari, Billy Joe goes out and gets a new Ferrari. Go on Billy Joe!"

The duo – who are both yet to taste defeat in the paid ranks – are preparing for their respective fights coming up.

Fury faces unbeaten German Tom Schwarz in Las Vegas on June 15 – one of three fights before he calls quits on his stellar career.

Confirming when he will be next out after Schwarz, he told iFL TV: "September 28th, I'm very active this year. I'm going to have three fights and then I'm going to be gone."

While Saunders is stepping up to super-middleweight in his next bout as he challenges Shefat Isufi at Stevenage's football ground on May 18.

Though there has been no official conformation, it is believed that the WBO title will be on the line with Gilberto Ramirez recently moving up to light-heavyweight

Speaking recently, Saunders promoter Frank Warren said: "We always felt that was going to be the case, because there was no way Ramirez was ever going to make the weight again.

"It was a little bit of uncertainty, but it came through and as we all know it’s a couple of weeks away, but it is for the full title, and Bill’s absolutely over the moon delighted with the chance to become a double weight world champion."

Saunders reigned as WBO middleweight champion for three years between 2015-2018, beating Andy Lee to win his first world title before making three successful defences.
