SISTER Wives is one of America's most popular reality TV shows which follows the lives of Kody Brown, his four wives, and their combined 18 children.

The show first premiered in 2010 and its 16th season aired on November 21, 2021.

What has happened in season 16 of Sister Wives?

This season has found the four women pushing back against Kody's rules for the household, prompting Janelle to clash with him in the episode that aired on January 2.

Kody applied what Janelle called strict Covid-19 rules for the Christmas holiday and said her sons, Garrison and Gabriel, should be able to continue to live their lives.

Her sons currently live in their home, and Kody suggested if the boys wanted to have social lives during the pandemic, they should move out.

In response, Kody said, "I'm making all the sacrifices and I'm asking everybody else to simply meet that level of sacrifice so that the family can exist."

When Robyn voiced her concerns about Janelle and Kody's strained relationship, Janelle said, "I'm masking. You know, I'm (doing) pretty much all those things (Kody requires).

"But the extra few steps were just like, 'Whoa, that's too many of my choices being taken away.'"

This comes after Christine made the decision to spend Thanksgiving elsewhere, followed by Janelle announcing she would not be spending the holiday at home either.

Janelle refused to tell her adult children how to live or forbid them from having a social life, but Kody asked her to respect the "big picture."

Walking away, Janelle just said, "You know, f**k off."

What happened during season 15?

Like all good reality TV shows, Sister Wives saw a lot of drama last season.

During its finale, fans witnessed Christine Brown, 49, reach her breaking point with the family when she announced she was moving back to Utah.

After breaking down in tears, she admitted to her fellow sister wife Meri Brown, “I can’t do marriage with Kody anymore,” later adding, “I don’t want to. … It’s not enough.”

On a more positive note, fans also saw Kody bonding with his youngest son, Solomon by taking him to the landfill.

Did Christine Brown return for season 16 of Sister Wives?

Despite publicly addressing her relationship, Christine returned for season 16 of Sister Wives and in the first episode said she didn't want to make any "drastic decisions" about her marriage.

Christine's sister-wife, Meri, told her she shouldn't give up so quickly on her marriage to Kody.

"You didn't put 30 years into this — 25, 28, wherever you are — to walk away," Meri said.

At the end of season 15, Christine moved back to Utah and opened up about her new life, stating that the decision was a "long time coming."

"The decision was a long time coming and I feel like a much better person divorced than I ever did," she said.

Christine then went on to say that things are looking up, even after making the difficult decision to end her marriage.

"Life is so great," she said. "I had no idea life could be simple. I didn't know it could be simple.

"It's a whole new world and I just hope Kody and I can still remain friends during all of this.

"Because we've been still real high communicating with each other and stuff. I mean good and bad days, don't get me wrong but we have a life still together after this because we have kids to raise."

Fans have since called for Christine to get her own spinoff show titled "Sister Wives: The Single Life."
