Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden, 31, has shared an update on her health as some concerned fans reached out. The dancer has Crohn’s Disease, which is a chronic condition, and regularly opens up about her health.
The star was diagnosed with the condition when she was 19, but has admitted it took her “years to adjust” to it.
Amy is currently in isolation after she and her Strictly 2021 partner tested positive for Covid.
The pair are isolating separately and will be absent from this week’s show on BBC One.
However, the broadcaster has said that all being well, they should be back for week three of the series.
To pass the time in isolation, Amy had been answering questions from her fans on social media.
A few were concerned about her chronic illness as Amy shared a health update with them.
When asked how her Crohn’s was, she posted a video of her giving a thumbs up, as she penned: “Good thank you”.
She elaborated more in a second post when a fan asked: “How are you? I have just been diagnosed with Crohns and finding it hard adjusting.”(sic)
Amy replied: “Sending you so much love. I’m doing really well, thank you.
“Now Crohn’s and Colitis UK is an amazing charity and there are so many people you can reach out to.
The Strictly pro added: “Don’t put a time on it as well, it actually took me years to adjust and it’s okay.
“Just remember there are lots of us you can reach out to, you’re a warrior.”
Elsewhere, Amy recently addressed her and Tom testing positive for Covid-19 in a separate post.
She penned on Sunday: “Unfortunately @tomfletcher and I have tested positive for Covid-19.
“I’m not suffering any symptoms but am now isolating at home.
“I have no doubt that over the next 10 days my mind will be going crazy with choreography ideas ready to get back on the strictly dance floor for the live show in week 3!
“Thank you for all of the support and good luck to all of the couples this week.
“I will be cheering you all on!”
They had tested positive for the virus on the day after their first live show.
Tom and Amy had danced Cha Cha for their debut in the competition, scoring 21 points.
