Phillip Schofield was left confused when a viewer on This Morning managed to scoop £1,000 on the show but seemed 'unimpressed' with the win.

The star was baffled by the reaction from the caller and it led to an awkward exchange live on air.

Most people would be thrilled to win a grand by calling in, but it didn't appear to be the case for one prize-winner.

On Monday's show, Janette from Manchester discovered she was the lucky winner of £1,000 from the Spin it Lucky contest on the ITV show.

As co-host Holly Willoughby informed Janette of the news she was met with a lingering silence.

After some time, the winner finally uttered: "Oh, er, oh, great."

The confusing moment saw Phillip look on in disbelief as he tried to comprehend the underwhelming reaction.

The 57-year-old then asked a question about the show when the caller responded: "I've not really been watching it this morning."

He replied: "Haven't you? If you've been entering for a year you should know we give you the answer to this."

After Janette had hung up with her winnings and the extra prizes, host Phillip said: "See ya. Yeah, gone. Not that thrilled. Really?"

He then spoke to the viewers at home: "Right, if you fancy your luck and you want to spin the wheel and be a little bit excited if you win a thousand pounds, entries for tomorrow's game are now open."

Contestants take part in a game of chance with a spin of the show's large wheel.

Players can take up to £3,000 home – the top prize – or £750, which is the smallest amount of cash on the board.

But Holly went on to defend the caller, suggesting the reaction could have been down to nerves over being on national TV.

The 40-year-old said: "I think people get a bit nervous. Overwhelmed. That's what it is."

The co-hosts were back together on screen after a week off for half-term.

Schofe recently thanked his friend for her support in the months that followed after he came out as gay in February 2020.

The Dancing on Ice host said of his co-presenter: "To think how lucky I am to have been able to have worked through all of this [and] to have had the therapy that Holly's given me all the way through."
