Hollyoaks viewers were left on the edge of their seats on May 21, 2010 as Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter) was finally revealed as Calvin Valentine's (Ricky Whittle) killer.

The Who Shot Calvin storyline ran for seven months and there were 13 suspects in total, including Calvin's own father Leo and siblings Sasha (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Lauren (Dominique Jackson).

However, it was blonde bombshell Theresa who bumped off the Hollyoaks hunk in December 2009 after he told her to abort their unborn baby.

In a fit of rage, Theresa armed herself with a gun and shot her bad boy lover Calvin on his wedding day to her cousin Carmel McQueen (Gemma Merna).

Theresa was arrested for Calvin's murder in 2014 after Carmel revealed all to Sonny Valentine.

However, she was released when it came to light that Sonny tricked Carmel into giving a statement.

To mark the anniversary to the iconic whodunnit storyline, Daily Star has taken a look at what the stars who played members of the Valentine family are doing now.

Calvin Valentine – Ricky Whittle

Ricky made his first breakthrough as a model for Reebok but he's best known for his role as Calvin Valentine in the Channel 4 soap.

He played the hunky villager from July 2006 until he was murdered by Theresa in May 2010.

During his stint on the show, Ricky was nominated for 'Sexiest Male' in the 2007, 2008 and 2009 British Soap Awards.

Ricky took part in BBC's Strictly Come Dancing in 2009, where he was partnered with Australian professional Natalie Lowe.

The pair came second in the dancing competition but their relationship off the dance-floor also hit the headlines.

Since leaving Hollyoaks, the 38-year-old actor has appeared in Single Ladies, NCIS, The 100 and Mistresses.

After leaving the UK to forge a career for himself in America, the former soap star landed a role of Shadow Moon in Amazon Prime series, American Gods.

However, it was confirmed in March this year that the third series would be its last.

Ricky wrote a lengthy statement posted on his Instagram Stories, admitting he was "committed" to finishing the journey.

Sasha Valentine – Nathalie Emmanuel

Nathalie played the role of Calvin's sister Sasha Valentine from 2006 until 2010.

The popular character was at the centre of many high-profile storylines including experimenting with recreational drugs, a heroin addiction and a subsequent overdose, prostitution, a victim of a series of violent attacks, portraying a gangster's moll and binge drinking.

In January 2012, Nathalie presented BBC Three's Websex: What's the Harm?, investigating the online sexual habits of 16–24 year olds in the UK.

Later in the same year she made her film debut in the thriller Twenty8k.

The 32-year-old actress gained international recognition for her role as Missandei in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, she confirmed that she received the news about winning the role when she was working in a clothes store as a shop assistant.

FHM magazine ranked Nathalie as 99th in their 100 Sexiest Women of 2013, and 75th in their Sexiest Women of 2015.

In 2015, she also appeared in the April issue of InStyle and GQ magazines

Nathalie continued her career with supporting roles in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials and its sequel Maze Runner: The Death Cure, and in the Fast & Furious films Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, and the upcoming F9.

Sonny Valentine – Aaron Fontaine

Sonny Valentine was Aaron Fontaine's first television job.

The role was initially played by Devon Anderson until 2007 but the actor was reportedly sacked by producer Bryan Kirkwood for "time-keeping issues".

Aaron made his debut as Sonny when the character returned to the village in 2015.

However, the Detective Inspector was quickly killed off in a train explosion along with Carmel McQueen (Gemma Merna), when Carmel rescued her cousin Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter) from Sonny.

Aaron has since appeared in The Outpost and Holby City since leaving the Channel 4 soap.

In 2019, it was reported that the actor had set up classes in Luton to help give people the chance to pursue a career in acting.

He told Luton Today at the time: "I wanted to start these workshops because there wasn’t really anything drama related for me growing up in Luton.

"There is a lot of undiscovered talent in Luton, both young people and older people and these workshops are for everyone.

"Now I have established myself as an actor, I want others from outside of London to also take a step towards their acting dreams.

Leo Valentine – Brian Bovell

Leo, the father of Calvin, Sasha and Sonny Valentine, first arrived in Hollyoaks village in August 2006.

Despite being on the show for over three years, Leo was not involved in any major storylines, however does serve as a comedic character.

In March 2010, it was announced actor Brian Bovell had been axed from the show and Leo was last seen on screen in August of the same year.

Brian's most famous roles include playing DC Rob Thatcher in The Bill, Jez Littlewood in Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, and Detective Andy Sharp in My Dad's the Prime Minister.

Additionally, he has appeared in cult films Babylon and Love Actually.

Bovell has won several awards, including a London Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1981.

This accolade was earned following his impressive performance in play Where There Is Darkness.

In 2004, he was a contestant on Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen and he appeared on Celebrity MasterChef in 2017.

Danny Valentine – David Judge

David is best known for his role in Hollyoaks as Danny Valentine.

Leo Valentine's illegitimate son first arrived in the Village in 2007 and soon became the show's biggest heartthrob.

After spending months wooing Hannah Ashworth, Danny left in 2008 to go and find his mother in Spain and never returned.

David, now 38, also played Jordan Ryder in ITV police drama The Bill and Sam in BBC medical series Casualty.

The actor has also had a number of high profile theatre roles over the past few years and most recently starred in CHAMACO.

He more recently starred in his autobiographical one-man show seen through the eyes of his adoptive father.

The production is inspired by events in David’s childhood and portrayals of real situations as it explores racism, violence and masculinity.

Lauren Valentine – Dominique Jackson

Lauren Valentine arrived in Hollyoaks village in 2007 as the illegitimate daughter of Leo Valentine who first arrived in the village with her mother Valerie Holden and her brother Danny.

The actress previously described the character as "a stroppy, misunderstood teenager" who she never wanted to "blossom her into a Hollyoaks babe"

Lauren was written out of the show in 2010 along with the rest of the Valentine family as part of series producer Paul Marquess' overhaul of the series.

Although it was initially reported Lauren was axed, on-screen brother Ricky Whittle confirmed she had planned to leave at the end of her contract which coincided with the ending of the rest of the Valentine's contracts who also chose not to renew.

"But, at the end of the day, times have to change and I'm only 18 and wasn't going to work at Hollyoaks forever.

"There are people I'm going to miss but it's the right time to do something else now."

Since leaving Hollyoaks, the actress has appeared in Waterloo Road as Evie Prior, The Body Farm as Natasha Collins and Doctors as Sophie Herron.

Diane Valentine – Pauline Black

Diane Valentine and her three children Calvin, Sonny and Sasha bought the home of Liz Burton and their arrival started off inauspiciously when they had to forcibly remove Liz's daughters Sophie and Mel Burton.

The character, played by Pauline Black, was proud of Calvin, although she was upset about his plans to leave home once he graduated from the police force.

Diane's stay in town was short-lived, on her way to her car, she dropped her keys.

When she bent over to pick them up, she didn't see Jake Dean's car driving towards her and she was hit and killed.

Actress Pauline, now 63, was already famous before she joined the cast of Hollyoaks for four episodes as Diane Valentine back in 2008.

In a music career spanning over 40 years, the TV star came to prominence in the late 1970s as the lead singer of the 2 Tone ska revival band the Selecter.

After Selecter had split up, Black was co-host, with Bob Carolgees and Spit the Dog, of the children's television quiz show, Hold Tight.

She won the 1991 Time Out award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Billie Holiday in the play All or Nothing at All.

In 2007, Black narrated the BBC Four documentary Soul Britannia, which chronicles the history of British soul music.

Pauline appeared in a Series 24 episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks in 2010, presented by Robert Webb, in the Identity Parade round.
