Vanessa Bryant credits her daughters for giving her the strength to push forward following the tragic deaths of their father, Kobe Bryant, and 13-year-old sister Gianna, last January.

“My girls help me smile through the pain,” Vanessa, 38, told People. “They give me strength.”

Vanessa — who is mom to surviving daughters Bianka, 4, Capri, 1, and college-bound Natalia, 18 — said that some days are more challenging than others.

“I can’t say that I’m strong every day,” Vanessa told the magazine’s “Women Changing the World” issue. “I can’t say that there aren’t days when I feel like I can’t survive to the next.”

Vanessa said she gets up every day and pushes forward through “unimaginable” pain.

“Lying in bed crying isn’t going to change the fact that my family will never be the same again,” she said. “But getting out of bed and pushing forward is going to make the day better for my girls and for me. So that’s what I do.”

In January, one year after Kobe and Gianna died in a Los Angeles helicopter crash, Vanessa shared a note from Gianna’s friend, which contained sweet memories and heartbreaking revelations.

“I will never understand why/how this tragedy could’ve happened to such beautiful, kind and amazing human beings. It still doesn’t seem real,” Vanessa posted to Instagram at the time. “Kob, we did it right. Gigi, you still make mommy proud. I love you!”

Vanessa told People how Kobe and Gianna still inspire her to “try harder and be better every day.”

“Their love is unconditional and they motivate me in so many different ways,” she said.
