The TV hunk, who was coupled up with Anna Vakili in the ITV villa, was unceremoniously axed from the show around Tuesday lunchtime.
Sherif had only been on the show for nine days.
A Love Island spokesperson said: “After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.”
Meanwhile, Sherif added: “In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa.
“I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.
“I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.”
As rumours of reasons for his departure swirled on Twitter, Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan took to social media to mock the 2019 contestants.
Susanna Reid’s co-star said: “BREAKING: Someone called Sherif has been kicked off the Love Island villa.
“Unconfirmed reports he was found in possession of a brain cell which was deemed to give him an unfair advantage.”
Currently mass speculation from fans has ranged from Sherif sneaking a phone into the villa to soiling himself in the communal pool.
A TV source spilled to The Mirror: “Sherif made a silly mistake and was immediately summoned to the Beach Hut – it wasn’t a criminal matter and he was spoken to and agreed to leave.
“Sherif knew he had to leave immediately after being called to the Beach But. No security were involved.”
