LOVED-UP jockeys Katie Davis and Trevor McCarthy were hit with some surprising news after their recent wedding.

The pair were told that under US gambling laws, it was now impossible to back each jockey separately.

Instead any punter hoping to bet on either Davis or McCarthy when competing in the same race, could only bet on the pair as one.

Ironically the law is referred to as 'coupling', and is used across the States if a trainer has more than one runner a single race.

Davis and McCarthy had no idea the rule would come into place after they tied the knot in December.

But thankfully for the recently-engaged power couple this side of the Atlantic, Tom Marquand and Hollie Doyle won't face similar problems.

But the American pair think it's about time the old laws were changed.

Davis told Bloodhorse: "It is 2021, and you shouldn't be able to stop people from making a living.

"I told Trevor we need to stick together on this because I wouldn't want my little girl to go through this while trying to make a living.

"Trevor is worried it might affect his business, and if it does it could come down to me choosing to make a living or not, and that's not fair.
