TOM Cruise wanted to cast secret girlfriend Hayley Atwell as his love interest ten years ago, it’s been revealed.

Stunning Hayley, 38, auditioned for a role in the 2011 action flick Jack Reacher, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hayley was said to be in the running for the leading lady part, getting down to the final three before the role went to fellow British actor Rosamund Pike.

Rosamund played attorney Helen Rodin to Tom’s Jack Reacher in the big screen adaptation of Lee Child’s novel One Shot.

Her character took on a difficult case of defending James Barr, a character accused of killing five people.

In real life, Pike was five months pregnant by the end of filming and went on to praise her co-star Tom as her "protector", according to MailOnline.

News about Hayley’s potential involvement in another Cruise film comes after The Sun reported last night that she and Tom, 58, have been secretly dating.

A production source revealed the two had fallen for each other the set of Mission: Impossible, the seventh film in Tom’s famous franchise.

Last night, the source said: “Tom and Hayley hit it off from day one. 

“Lockdown, and all the difficulties that came with it, brought them even closer and they’ve become fairly inseparable. 

“They’ve been meeting up after hours, and she’s been to his London pad. They get on brilliantly, and both seem very happy.”

On-set photos recently snapped also showed Tom and Hayley handcuffed together while in character.

The revelation also comes after Tom’s expletive-filled rants at the film’s crew for supposedly flouting Covid guidelines put in place by production.

Not one but two recordings of the Hollywood star's outbursts were made public exclusively by The Sun.

Since the furious rants went public, it's believed that five crew members have decided to leave the film altogether.
