MANCHESTER UNITED'S superstars revved up for their LASK chance of silverware this season with a real variety pack in training.

Bruno Fernandes and Anthony Martial produced all sorts of acrobatics, while under-pressure keeper David De Gea saw the funny side of it when he practiced with a giant ball as he tries to redeem his reputation.

But through all the different routines, one thing shone through.

United's players all beamed with the confidence of peerless post-lockdown form that helped them snatch third spot in the Premier League last week.

That, and the fact they host Austria's fourth best team with a 5-0 lead from the last-16 away leg when the Europa League finally resumes on Wednesday for a condensed, World Cup-style mini tournament.

Majestic mid-season arrival Fernandes looked the most relaxed man, with indeed a touch of swagger, as he gave a thumbs-up sign.

But even his brilliant making and taking of goals has been challenged in the past few weeks by the scoring run of Mason Greenwood, whose 19 strikes this season betters the records of United legends George Best and Wayne Rooney when they too were 18.

Former Old Trafford and England defender Gary Neville believes that means Marcus Rashford and Martial, not Greenwood, will be most under threat, if Jadon Sancho arrives from Borussia Dortmund.

But as United trained to face LASK, the Bundesliga giants are still hoping to enforce an August 10 deadline for any such transfer.

And Dortmund are sticking to their valuation of £100million-plus for the England attacker, although United would much prefer a lower fee with add-ons.

As things stand, a deal could depend on whether Dortmund can sign ex-United winger Memphis Depay from Lyon.

But all that will be out of United's mind as they attempt to reach the Europa League quart-finals and close on a first trophy in boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's rejuvenated 19-month reign.
