Teenagers risk their lives clambering over sheer cliff on the edge of terrifying 75-foot plunge to the sea

Reckless teenagers have been pictured risking their lives climbing over a sheer cliff with a 75ft drop into the sea.

The youngsters were spotted sitting on top of the rock and then climbing down the precipice in Torquay, Devon on Wednesday evening by a horrified onlooker.

Holidaymaker Seth Richards, 39, said the boys looked ‘close to disaster’ and ‘could have been injured or even killed’.

The group were seemingly unaware of the danger as they joked about on the cliff face, some 75ft above the sea 

Mr Richards said: ‘I spotted them high up on rocks.

‘One of them appeared to be stuck while perched precariously right on the edge.

‘One slip and he could very easily have plunged off the rocks and been injured or even killed.

‘The water below didn’t appear very high. I think the tide was out because the tide line was exposed high on the rocks.

‘I’d say the drop was about 75 feet. It looked very dangerous.

‘I had to leave but as far as I know they managed to get off ok. I just couldn’t believe the stupidity of it and how they were prepared to risk their lives like that. It’s crazy.’

Despite repeated warnings from coastguards, which increase in regularity in the summer months, tourists and youngsters are often spotted dicing with death on cliff faces around the country. 

Holidaymakers are often spotted posing for selfies along Seven Sisters in East Sussex, ignoring pleas from the coastguard and emergency services.
