Doctor Who came to an explosive end earlier this year and viewers of the BBC drama are eagerly awaiting its return. However, when Jodie Whittaker got together with predecessors David Tennant and Matt Smith for a webinar, the current Doctor dropped a huge hint on what fans can expect when the show returns for its one-off Christmas special.

Jodie has already tackled The Master and Cybermen this year but her tenure as the Doctor is not about to get easier anytime soon.

The Doctor will face one of her most infamous enemies when the show returns alongside her trusted companions.

Ryan (Tosin Cole), Graham (Bradley Walsh) and Yaz (Mandip Gill) will all be on hand to assist the Time Lord once more

The current Doctor took some time to give viewers a little hint on what they can expect in the episode during a video interview chaired by HBO.

David and Matt discussed their respective times on the show while Jodie revealed fans might know more about the Christmas special than they think.

She said: “I think I’m allowed to say what it’s called… it’s called ‘Revolution of the Daleks.’

“There’s a bit of a hint in it. But that’s all I can say,” the actress added.

Could the Time Lord be about to face the nightmare of the Daleks raging war against each other and the human race?

The Daleks have fought among themselves before but this battle could prove to be the Doctor’s toughest challenge yet.

The 13th Doctor didn’t meet the Daleks in her first series but she did battle with them in 2019’s New Year’s Day Special.

Meanwhile, Jodie opened up on her experience as the Doctor so far.

“The thing that I would say to the next person is that the pressure of the history of the show is totally made up in your own head,” she revealed.

“On set, all the crew that have transitioned they’re excited with you to bring something new.

“That is the beauty of this role, you’re not meant to be recreating what else did, you’re supposed to take it.

“There’s a lot of pressure and actor inner monologue that is there for a long time but once you’re in your costume and in your own Doctor’s clothes and with your own friends.

“In a weird way, all that pressure disappears because it’s yours to play with.”

Elsewhere, showrunner Chris Chibnall addressed the latest season’s cliffhanger and Christmas special.

“We can’t leave the Doctor there! On that cliffhanger! Well, we did,” he said.

“But rest assured, the Doctor and her friends will be back for a one-off extended Special around Christmas and New Year. (I don’t know when they’re going to put it on yet, otherwise, we’d tell you!).

“There will be Daleks. There will be exterminations. Thrills, laughter, tears. You know. The usual. See you at the end of the year.”

Doctor Who will return to BBC One later this year.
