Now that Friends is streaming once again, fans can sit back and enjoy another rewatch of the famed series. The show, which premiered in 1994, followed the lives of six friends living and thriving in New York City. On the surfaces, fans were led to believe that Joey Tribbiani, Ross Geller, Chandler Bing, Rachel Green, Monica Geller, and Phoebe Buffay were the very best of friends. That was true, but that didn’t mean they were immune to treating each other poorly. In fact, there were many moments during the show’s 10-season run, where the gang was decidedly awful to one another.
Chandler wasn’t a great friend to Joey
Chandler and Joey had the original TV bromance. The two wereso close that it was pretty clear Joey had replaced Ross as Chandler’sbest friend from pretty early on in the series. There were moments when Chandlerwas pretty great, like basically letting him live for free, but there were alsomoments when he was a genuinely crappy friend to Joey.

Throughout the series, there were crucial moments were Chandlerwas a truly awful pal. He mocked Joey’s heartfelt gift, kissed his sister, andthen stole his girlfriend. He also made Joey seem like a pervert all to coverhis romance with Monica. Is that friendship? we don’t think so!
Rachel sabotaged Ross repeatedly
Rossand Rachel’s relationship was always complicated. When they broke up inseason 3, fans were heartbroken, but eventually, they seemed to fall into afriendly enough rhythm, at least on a surface level. If you look closely, youmay notice that Rachel spent a lot of her time either consciously or subconsciouslysabotaging Ross’ romantic endeavors, both before and after they called itquits.

Rachel gave Ross awful advice when it came to Julie becauseshe was into him. Later, she talked Bonnie into shaving her head again, knowingRoss would find it unappealing. She even showed up at his wedding to Emily, andwhile she backed out of admitting her feelings for him, her presence was thereason Ross said her name at the altar. Rachel dating Elizabeth’sfather also seems like sabotage. Ross seemed to enjoy messing with Rachel, too, to be fair. For two people who were supposed to be friends, they reallyliked to try and subtly destroy each other.
Joey scamming on Rachel was pretty messed up to, come to thinkof it
Joey developed feelings for Rachel toward the latter end ofthe series. While he struggled with dealing with those feelings, he ultimatelymoved forward with his pursuit, knowing, deep down, that Ross was not OK withthe situation. While Rachel has every right to date whomever she wants, mostpeople agree that you don’t date a friend of your ex, so technically Joey and Rachelwere both in the wrong, here.

A few fans like the idea of the Joey and Rachel pairing, butmost seem to agree that it was a bit contrived. OneReddit fan notes that the entire plotline felt like the writers had run outof ideas. Even if that were the case, they didn’t need to make Joey dosomething so sketchy.
