Jamie Bell and Kate Mara are excitedly awaiting the arrival of their first child together after two years of marriage. The Hollywood couple held an all-pink baby shower ahead of Kate’s impending birth at their Los Angeles on Saturday, according to reports. A source told People.com: “Jamie was around, as well, for the celebration at their house. Everything was pink! There were gorgeous pink flower decorations, the treats were pink and Kate also had her hair up in a bun with a pink ribbon tied around it. Guests even brought gifts wrapped in pink.”
The birth will be the first child for mother-to-be Kate, 36, but the second one for former child star Jamie, 33, of Billy Elliot fame.
He already has a five-year-old son from his first marriage to 31-year-old Evan Rachel Wood.
Jamie and Kate became a couple in late 2015, more than a year after he and Evan Rachel Wood announced their separation after 19 months of marriage.
The pair both starred in superhero film Fantastic Four – and according to Jamie, they were destined to be together.
He told ES Magazine: “There was an instant connection, like we’d known one another forever.
“It was obvious very quickly that we were going to get married.”
The Englishman revealed he and House of Cards actress Kate had previously shared a kiss for a screen chemistry test and neither had got the part.
But the two lovebirds were soon smitten with one another after filming and becoming close during the Fantastic Four press tour.
They became engaged in January 2017 and married just a few months later in a surprise ceremony revealed by Kate on Instagram.
She shared a picture of her and Jamie smooching in what looked like a dance floor shot accompanied by the word “nuptials”.
The couple revealed they were expecting in January 2019.
Gillingham-born Jamie, who grew up without his father has admitted his upbringing was very different from Kate’s prestigious background.
Her family founded and co-own the New York Giants.
He told ES Magazine: “They’re an incredible family, so loving, connected and together. They’re functional.
“It’s kind of an amazing surprise to know that stuff really exists.
“I come from a broken home… But to see parents who are together, who have raised four children, with no sign of splitting up, is a joy to watch.”
