Real Housewife of Atlanta’s Kenya Moore sobbed recounting the out-and-out fights with her now ex Marc Daly as their marriage was crumbling on last night’s episode.
The 48-year-old mom to one-year-old baby girl Brooklyn recently announced she and Marc were calling it quits after two years of marriage.
In a confessional she said: “In the beginning, Marc was definitely more careful with his opinion even when he was upset.
“And now, when he's upset, it's just no holds barred.”
Despite their new split, viewers learned from last night’s episode that the then still newlyweds had been having trouble for some time.
Kenya told fellow Housewife Kandi Burruss an early problem for the two was intimacy issues, which began before Brooklyn was born.
She said: “Maybe when I was about six months, seven months, he just started getting really freaked out about my belly growing.
“He thought it was kind of awkward.”
Now, when he's upset, it's just no holds barred.
And their sex life really never got back on track after that, according to Kenya.
That was in part because the two live in different cities.
Restaurateur Marc is primarily based in New York City, where as Kenya resides in Atlanta.
And when they are in the same place, they can’t seem to get on the same page about prioritizing each other as a couple.
Kenya said: “He is in love with Brooklyn, there’s no doubt about that.
“As much as I want that, being a mom and seeing my husband bond with the baby, I’m left on the sideline a lot of the time.”
HEARTBREAKING TIME ALONE
The issue took a “heartbreaking” turn for Kenya.
She told Kandi that Marc reneged on taking the couple’s two year anniversary trip to Turks and Caicos.
This after Marc refused to travel with a nanny in order to have time for date nights.
Instead, Kenya vacationed alone with Brooklyn.
That incident reflected the couple’s bigger communication issues.
Disagreements or even just discussions often became heated arguments, according to Kenya.
She said on the show: “I just feel a lot of times stuck, ’cause I don’t want a conversation to elevate to a full-blown argument because he doesn’t compromise.”
I waited my whole life for her and I was that little girl who was never protected and I will protect her.
Their own marriage brought up deep seated childhood issues for Kenya.
She said that despite loving each other, she doesn’t want the ‘nastiness’ in their relationship to affect their daughter.
“I don’t want it for Brooklyn. I waited my whole life for her and I was that little girl who was never protected and I will protect her.”
Kandi relayed that she didn’t realize that things were as bad as Kenya said they were.
She said: “I didn’t realize her relationship was so deep to where she feels like it’s toxic to her daughter.
“I’m hoping this is something she feels can be fixed.”
