David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) has a lot to deal with in Coronation Street right now, but the prison riot last week has made matters a whole lot worse. With rapist Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton) having been stabbed and left for dead during the incident, David has found himself the prime suspect — and tonight things took a sinister turn, as Josh confirmed the police’s suspicions, informing them that David was the one who attacked him.
David’s world came crashing down several weeks ago when he discovered that rapist Josh was doing a stretch in the very same prison as him. However, matters got out of hand when Abe informed David that he should seek revenge on Josh during the prison riot.
As the riot got underway, David threatened to kill the rapist, but in the end, he was unable to do so — knowing that such an action would carry the risk of a much longer stretch in prison, which would mean that he would miss his wedding to Shona (Julia Goulding). However, during the riot, Josh was stabbed and left for dead.
As a result, David became the prime suspect in the investigation and, tonight, he appeared before the Magistrate’s Court, where he learned that he would be remanded in custody until the trial.
However, Shona was given some hope when she learned that Josh was awake and ready to talk, as she believed he would reveal that David wasn’t the one who stabbed him.
Unfortunately, that’s not what happened, as Josh told the police David was, in fact, responsible for the attack.
Is this the end for David?
Josh is certainly hellbent on making him suffer, but will he follow through with his claim that David was the one who stabbed him?
What’s more, is this the end of Shona and David’s wedding plans?
Coronation Street continues Friday 1stNovember at 7:30pm on ITV.
