It has been an extremely turbulent year for Emmerdale resident Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) and while she thought she was going to spend these last few months focusing on preparing for the arrival of her baby boy, a spanner was thrown into the works when her rapist, Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie) died from the injuries he sustained earlier in the summer. In recent weeks, Lee’s family have come out of the woodwork, but no one was more surprised than Victoria when she found out the man she had been flirting with at the hopsital, Luke was in fact Lee’s brother. Tonight, Victoria came face to face with Luke as he tried to apologise for the situation and explain how he had no idea she was her brother’s victim. But did he drop a clue as to his intentions? Does he want to get close to Victoria in order to take the baby away from her?

In scenes which aired earlier tonight, the Woolpack chef spent the day looking after her brother, Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) son, Seb.

After a day’s fun, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) went to pick him up from Victoria’s cottage when Luke arrived.

“Honestly, I didn’t know who you were,” Luke said and Victoria replied: “And yet here you are, showing up like your brother did and like your mother did when all I want is to be left alone.”

“I don’t blame you for being weary I still can’t get my head around it all,” Luke continued.

But Aaron intervened and threatened: “If you, or any of your low life family come anywhere near Vic again, playing your mind games you’re going to regret it.”

“I understand, it’s just I’m not like my brother,” Lee said and walked off.

Confused, Victoria followed Lee to the bus stop wanting to know exactly why he turned up.

“Why did you come here?” She asked as he stood at the bus stop.

“It was kind of impulsive, well as impulsive as you can get with a half an our walk and two bus rides.

“I do drive, I’m a perfectly functioning adult, it’s just my car spends more time in the garage than being driven.

“I’m rambling sorry, I didn’t come here to harass you, you believe me don’t you?” He commented awkwardly.

“It’s so weird, you’re his brother,” Victoria remarked.

The two then talked about destiny and fate before Luke added seriously: “I believe you though, about lee, what he did.

“But he’s gone now and I don’t really know what I’m supposed to feel about him.”

“He’s your brother! You wouldn’t be human if you didn’t miss him,” Victoria maturely said.

“I just don’t know where it went wrong for him, why he was like that,” Luke commented.

The village bus then interrupted their conversation and Luke had to leave.

“This is me, thanks for giving me the time of day, I’m nothing like him it’s important you know that,” Luke said.

After agreeing she understood, Luke left Victoria with a final thought: “Maybe someday we can throw caution to the wind and see if destiny can take us.”

This seemed to be Luke’s last ditch attempt at trying to convince Victoria he should deserve another chance with her, but is this his way of getting close to the baby that is technically his nephew?

Perhaps viewers will see a huge plot twist in upcoming weeks when the baby is born and Luke tries to take him away from Victoria.

Emmerdale airs weekday evenings at 7pm on ITV.
