Woman dies in hospital just days after house fire which also killed a man in horror dawn blaze

A woman has died after being pulled from a burning building just days after the horror house blaze killed a man in Cambridgeshire.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the fire in Paston, Peterborough just before 6am on Monday morning.

Two people were rescued from the property, and a man was later confirmed to have died.

The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and tragically passed away.

Neither of those killed in the fire have been named by police.

Photos from the scene show the house with serious burn damage, as well as piles of debris in the back garden. 

A statement from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said crews were called to the fire at 5.46am.

Crews from Dogsthorpe, Stanground, the Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade and Thorney responded to the incident.

The statement continued: ‘Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire at a terraced house. 

‘They rescued two people from the property and performed CPR alongside the ambulance service. 

‘Sadly one man was declared dead at the scene and a woman has been taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

‘Firefighters extinguished the fire, and all crews left the area by around 12pm.’

The service later added: ‘The woman who was injured in the fire has sadly died in hospital.

‘A thorough fire investigation, involving several officers and police investigators, has determined the cause of the fire was accidental.’

A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said: ‘The woman who was injured following a fire earlier this week in Crabtree, Paston, has died in hospital.

‘A thorough investigation into the cause of the fire has been carried out by officers and the fire service and the cause has been confirmed as accidental.’
