A DAD was sent £700 of drinks in an hour after putting his Wetherspoons table number on Twitter.
Karl Phillips was bombarded with free booze after tweeting he was heading for an 11am pint at The Gold Cape boozer in Mold, North Wales.
The football fan, known as Bootlegger or "The Captain", was sent dozens of orders through the Wetherspoons app when asked for his table number by one of his 232,000 followers.
Clearly shocked at the generosity and possibly a little confused, Karl tweeted: "Well f*** dis s*** Jesus wept who keeps sending me drinks they piling up like f*** lads."
Some of the bizarre orders included a bowl of peas, some baked beans, and a side salad.
WETHERSWOONS
It wasn't long before Karl had been sent more beer than he could drink, with the total coming in at a whopping £700 on Saturday morning.
And not unsurprisingly, he wasn’t able to drink them all – especially since it was 10.40am.
He said: "Well come on lads pack it in.
"I’m leaving in a minute. Wetherspoons have taken over 700 quid worth of orders."
The Captain managed to sink five pints and a brandy as well turn the prank into a positive for many more people.
In an attempt to find a way for the money to not go to waste, Karl got in touch with Wetherspoons head office to ask could the money instead be donated to charity.
He said: "Top wind up lads.
"Looks like it’s going to make a few bob for charity (providing head office clear it)"
Wetherspoons declined to comment.
HOW THE WETHERSPOON APP WORKS
The Wetherspoons app allows customers to order drinks and food straight to their table.
Customers can order directly from their smartphones to avoid queues at the bar.
All the person needs is the table number and a order can be placed and the meal delivered in no time!
