Police are hunting for three men after a Yorkshire Terrier was gunned down in a Bronx public housing project Sunday night, police said.
The suspects knocked on a 54-year-old man’s door at the Adams Houses in the South Bronx at about 7:40 p.m. and tried to break in, according to police.
The resident of the apartment was able to shut the door before they burst in, but one of the suspects fired a gun several times through the door.
A Yorkshire Terrier was hit by one of the slugs and died at the scene, police said.
The suspects are all believed to be in their 20s and were all wearing dark clothing when the shooting happened.
