A brazen thief snatched a straphanger’s wallet out of his hand before bolting inside a Lower Manhattan subway station this week, new video shows.
The 49-year-old victim was standing at a MetroCard machine at the Centre Street and Chambers Street station, on the J line, around 6:40 p.m. Monday — when a stranger passed through the turnstile and approached him, the clip released early Tuesday shows.
The suspect paced around behind the victim for a few seconds before swiping the wallet from his hand as he turned around, the clip shows.
The video cuts off as the victim begins to chase after the bandit.
Cops are still looking for the suspect, who is bald and has facial hair, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with blue shapes across the front, black shorts and black sneakers.
