A Bronx man viciously beat his girlfriend and threatened her with a kitchen knife at his workplace in Orange County this week, according to video obtained by a local news outlet — but he was inexplicably released with only a summons and an order of protection.
The suspect, Jay Vazquez-Paulino, burst into the Superior Package Company in Harriman on Tuesday and immediately started punching his girlfriend, the video obtained by Mid-Hudson News shows.
Another worker splits them up, the video shows, and Vazquez-Paulino then steps outside, pulls a 12-inch knife out of his back pack and slides it up his jacket sleeve.
He then walked back in the building and hurled a cellphone at the victim and began beating her again, the report said.
About 10 minutes later, Vazquez-Paulino kicked the woman, then left the building. As he was leaving, he pulled the knife out of his sleeve and tossed it on the roof of the building, the video shows.
He was charged with menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and attempted assault and harassment — but let go with just a desk appearance ticket, according to the report.
