‘Maybe it’s in a super-dooper Portacabin?’: Lowly Scottish football club ‘photoshops Manchester United’s hospitality suite into their own matchday offering in a stand that doesn’t exist’

  • Stenhousemuir Football Club in Falkirk offer a £65-a-head hospitality deal
  • The club posted a photo that was similar to the service offered at Old Trafford
  • The cost of Manchester United’s hospitality is £225-plus per head service

A fourth tier Scottish football club has been accused by fans of photoshopping Manchester United’s hospitality suite into their own matchday offering.

The original picture, advertising Manchester United’s £225-plus per head hospitality, shows a linen-covered table with the Strentford End of Old Trafford in the background.

But a remarkably similar table set up recently appeared on the website of Stenhousemuir Football Club in Falkirk with their own Ochilview stadium visible through the window.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that the £65-a-head hospitality deal at Stenhousemuir looked incredibly similar.

Some even claimed they could still make out the crest of Manchester United, which has a squad vale of £650million, in the picture supposedly taken at Stenhousemuir FC, which has a squad value £80,000.

One Twitter user, @MattReid10-2, uploaded the side-by-side pictures with the caption: ‘They’ve edited Ochilview onto Old Trafford.’

Other users were quick to comment on the observation.

@AG1792 said: ‘Could have least photoshopped the united crest off the menu lads.’

Before @moonman1873 added: ‘There isn’t even a stand at that end of the ground.’

And @rabmckee wrote: ‘When I saw that yesterday I must admit I thought when did they build a new bit facing the main stand. Then I thought possibly a super duper portacabin. But what the f***.’

Stenhousemuir Football Club originally tweeted the picture yesterday afternoon captioned with: ‘Warriors hospitality Gulnar Tandoori Day.

‘Saturday 28th December vs Stirling Albion We have one table of six left for this popular day. Phone today and secure the last table.’

The tweet has since been deleted.

In response to the original tweet, the club then photoshopped a picture of the face of their manager, Davie Irons, on to the body of Manchester United Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

They wrote: ‘No we haven’t. There are just some uncanny similarities between the two clubs.’

A spokeswoman for Stenhousemuir Football Club said: ‘An image was created using a view of Ochilview Park, with what was deemed to be a generic attractive table setting.

‘To compare Old Trafford in any way to Ochilview Park would be stretch of the imagination to say the least, so we did not think that this tongue-in-cheek promotion would cause any offence.

‘However, we will refrain from using the image going forward.’
