A SAM Allardyce lookalike has lost his job before it started due to the England boss’s sacking.

Steve Wallbank, 53, was set to launch his new career at tomorrow’s England vs Malta match at Wembley.

But when a newspaper sting led to Big Sam quitting after 67 days, Steve was left cursing his luck.

He said: “The big twit opened his mouth to the wrong people and my career as his double is over. I’m thinking of sending a letter to Sam’s villa in Benidorm asking him for a slice of his payoff. It’s only fair he should share it!”

Freight firm manager Steve, of Gloucester, was ribbed about the likeness while Sam was a club manager and says it got worse when he was made Three Lions supremo.

He said: “When a bloke congratulated me on my new job and started going on about the merits of Raheem Sterling on the wing, I started thinking about being a double.”

Steve added: “I did a bit of research into lookalike agencies and they have said if you’re constantly being mistaken for somebody else you could be the sort of person we should talk to. So, I sent my details in.”

At 6ft Steve is 2in shorter than Sam, 61. He signed for lookalikes.co.uk and boss Andy Harmer said: “When Steve first sent his images in, he told me now was his time to make hay while the sun shines.

“I thought he’d do really well, especially around the big tournaments. Shame the sun didn’t shine very long.”
