This is the stomach-churning food that customers of Vkusno i Tochka – the chain which replaced McDonald’s in Russia – were served.

Rebranded as Tasty and Full Stop in English, the company was supposed to fill the void left by the American fast-food giant over the war in Ukraine.

Instead, it hit the headlines for its revolting food.

Less than a month after the grand opening in Moscow people have complained of being served mouldy burger buns and ‘insect legs’.

Ksenia Sobchak, a TV celeb and the Russian opposition’s most prominent woman politician, said on her Telegram channel: ‘Vkusno i Tochka sells mouldy burgers.

‘It looks like they do not quite honour the standards of McDonald’s, at least in terms of product quality control.

‘Today at least three cases were recorded of burgers with mouldy buns sold to customers. Two of them were for my subscribers.’

Russians were promised a new era of fast food when McDonald’s agreed to sell its local business to millionaire Alexander Govor.

The local franchisee of the chain in Siberia tool over the portfolio of roughly 850 restaurants.

Hundreds of people gathered outside McDonald’s flagship location at Pushkin Square on Russia Day, a holiday celebrating national pride, to try the new menu.

The new owners had promised ‘the same but better’, yet some customers have their doubts after seeing the revolting pictures.

One said: ‘I don’t think it’s OK when you find mould.’ Ms Sobchak urged the new management: ‘Figure it out, guys, you don’t need to poison people.’

Others complained of the lack of meat in cheeseburgers, and cheese sauces with expired use-by-dates, but some people branded the accusations as ‘fake news’.
