A $30,000 reward is being offered for information on the missing 19-year-old stepdaughter of UFC heavyweight fighter Walt Harris as investigators now suspect foul play in the case.
UFC President Dana White said in a video posted Wednesday that he’s contributing $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the disappearance of Aniah Haley Blanchard, who was last seen on Oct. 23.
“And please, share this message and keep Aniah, Walt and their entire family in your thoughts,” White said.
That’s on top of the $5,000 reward put up Wednesday by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey for information about the Southern Union College student’s whereabouts.
“I am issuing this reward to help encourage those with information to come forward,” Ivey said during a press conference, AL.com reports. “We continue to pray for Aniah and her family as law enforcement officials work to bring her home.”
A message seeking comment from Auburn police was not immediately returned Thursday.
Police initially said they didn’t find any evidence of foul play in the teen’s disappearance, but authorities no longer believe that’s the case.
“This is a criminal investigation, obviously we’re approaching it as such,” Lee County District Attorney Brandon Hughes told reporters alongside Ivey. “We do not believe that Aniah would or did go missing on her own volition.”
Police found Blanchard’s damaged 2017 Honda CRV in Montgomery – some 55 miles away — two days after she was last seen in Auburn.
Blanchard’s relatives have told AL.com they’re unsure what happened to the teen, but her stepmother believes she may have been carjacked.
“But police haven’t said that either,” Yashiba Blanchard told the website. “They’re trying to match up the evidence.
Police, meanwhile, could not confirm or deny reports that Blanchard went out late Wednesday after meeting someone on a dating app.
“We are exploring that possibility,” Auburn police Capt. Lorenza Dorsey told the website.
