SMYTHS Toys's PS5 restock lasted just seven minutes this morning.
The retailer's restock focussed on the PS5 Disc Edition (https://bit.ly/3yLE81p) and went live at 9am GMT.
But by 9.07am, customers could no longer pre-order, both online and in-store – meaning they had had already run out of consoles.
Meanwhile, our live blog is the best place to keep up to date with the latest stock drops in both the UK and the US as we track restocks at stores including Argos, Very, Amazon, GAME and Smyths Toys

Explained: Can you play PS4 games on PS5?
The easiest answer: yes! There is a huge selection of the PS4 games you own are playable on the PS5. You’ll be able to download any games you bought through the PlayStation store on your PS4 and play them on the next-gen console.
If you’ve got the disc edition of the PS5, you’ll also be able to insert your PS4 discs into it and play them that way, too.

Cyberpunk 2077 console updates you need to know about
The popular video game, developed by CD Projekt Red, is now optimized for all major gaming systems including the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S after it underwent several internal updates.
The next-gen console improvements include ray tracing support, and 4K resolution with dynamic scaling.
The Patch 1.5 for Cyberpunk 2077 will also allow for faster loading times, and “a variety of other visual and technical improvements” for PS5 and Xbox Series X, CD Projekt said.
Some of these effects include the game featuring a reworked perk tree, as well as upgraded AI.
From a traffic perspective, the crowds will be better managed, and the game’s driving model will see some improvement, CD Projekt Red developers said on Twitch.
The PS5 version, specifically, sees added support for the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback tool.
The game's updated patch will take up around 50GB of space on gaming consoles.

Fit more games onto your console
If your PS5 is already starting to get full, don't panic – it's possible to expand the console's storage.
After all, even though your PS5 has an 825GB SSD, only 667GB of that is actually usable.
Plug in an external hard drive or solid-state drive via USB to immediately boost your storage while the unit is connected to the PS5.
The catch is that you can't play PS5 games using this method, as the storage won't be fast enough.
However, you can play PS4 games stored on the drive – freeing up space on your PS5 for native games.

Mute shortcut using DualSense controller
Silencing your console often involves physically muting the TV you're playing on.
But that's not always ideal: maybe the remote is out of reach, or maybe you're connected with wireless headphones.
Whatever the reason, it's actually possible to mute the PS5's system audio with the DualSense controller.
Hold the microphone-mute button down to mute audio. An orange light will glow to confirm that mute is on.
The same trick will unmute the console.

How big is the PS5 console?
Compared to the Xbox series X, the PS5 is rather large, but it is at least likely to fit under your television. The digital edition is slightly slimmer, due to not having a disc drive, but both consoles are equally tall when compared to one another side by side.
They are 390mm tall and 260mm deep, while the disc edition is 104mm thick and the digital edition is 92mm.
Both consoles are intended to be stood upright, but also come with a plastic stand to help them rest on their side, which might be the easier option if it’s going underneath your TV.

Game updates PS5 bundles page
It looks like Game has pushed back the release date of the PS5, so we’ve got some hopes that it could still restock today.
The retailer’s PS5 bundles page previously said 18 February, but some of the consoles’s dispatch date now says 25 February.
Usually we see stock drop online a week and a half before the stated dispatch date, however with the retailer delaying the restock, it might end up being next week instead.
Currently there are 16 bundles listed on GAME right now, but this could change when stock actually goes live.EditDelete

PS5 beta features (continued…)
The beta also lets up to 14 games and apps appear on the homepage.
For US and UK users, the beta is testing a voice command feature that allows you to open games and apps, and control video and audio playback with just your voice.
The feature can be enabled in the settings, and uses the command "Hey, Playstation."
The beta also includes accessibility setting updates, including more screen reader languages (adding Russian, Arabic, Dutch, Brazilin, Portuguese, Polish, and Korean), mono audio for headphones, and the option to show check marks on enabled settings to make it easier to see which settings are turned on or off.

New features in the PS5 beta
The PS5 beta released on February 9 is testing a bunch of new features, according to a post on the PlayStation blog.
It introduces new party chat options that allow users to make an open chat, which lets your friends join a party without an invite, or a closed chat, which only lets in invited players.
PlayStation has made changes to the Game Base card, making three separate sections where users can view friends, parties, and messages.
And players can now start Share Play from the voice chat card.
There are new user interface features that allow you to filter by genre and choose games to keep on your home page.
The beta is just that — a beta — so Sony warns that every feature may not work perfectly, and everything may not be included in a final version of the software when it's released to the public.

Where is the PS5 in stock?
The PS5 is infamous for never being in stock.
PS5 bundles are in stock on the HSN website.
The bundles range in price from $999.99 to $1,209.99.
Those prices might be a bit more than players are expecting to pay, as the PS5 console alone retails for $499, or $399 for the diskless, digital-only version.
Various stock trackers have suggested that the console might be restocked at major retailers like Target and Best Buy in the coming days.
Sony said that the global chip shortage has made it difficult to keep up with the demand for PS5s.

Will GAME drop tomorrow?

GAME is one of the biggest suppliers of PlayStation 5 consoles and is expected to continue this role throughout the rest of 2022.
Keep an eye out on our blog for all the latest restock news for the PS5.

PSVR 2 release date
Sony has created a next-generation virtual reality headset on the way, designed to work exclusively with the PS5, called the PlayStation VR2.
Although Sony announced it was working on the headset last year, the product name was only confirmed on 4 January, at the annual CES technology show in Las Vegas.
However, Sony is yet to reveal exactly what the PS VR2 will look like, and there hasn't been a full spec sheet released just yet either.
Sony hasn’t confirmed when it is planning to put the PS VR2 on sale. However, with news of the headset first breaking in early 2021, it is possible that an autumn 2022 release is most likely.

UK has highest demand for PS5 in the world
An analysis of search queries suggests that the UK has more people desperate to get hold of the PS5 than anywhere else in the world.
A study of internet search data suggests that the UK demand for the PlayStation 5 console is the highest in the world, with 486 in every 10,000 Britons searching for it each month.
As well as 157 different countries, the study also drilled down to include 69 cities in the UK, to see where exactly the most demand was coming from.
For some reason Newry in Northern Ireland, which was only made a city in 2002, was number one, with 24.6 searches per 1,000 people.
Sales of the PlayStation 5 in Japan have been poor so far, but it was assumed that was because of the lack of stock, which is especially tight in Sony’s home country.

When will Amazon restock?
Amazon was predicted to restock yesterday morning, however that sadly did not happen.
Usually, Amazon drops happen on Wednesday at around 8:30am, so we aren’t expecting any drops from the retailer this week.
PS5StockAltertUK is hopeful that we'll get a drop on the 22-23 February, but we predict it'll be on the 23 as it falls on a Wednesday.
