William made the revelations during a visit to The Passage in central London, the UK’s largest centre for homeless people of which he is a patron and visited as a child with Diana and Harry
He told Mary Berry: ‘On the school run already, bear in mind they’re six and four, whenever we see anyone who is sleeping rough on the streets, I talk about it and I point it out and I explain why and they’re all very interested.

It comes as royal sources revealed how George and Charlotte will make their first public Christmas outing this year.
They will walk with their parents William and Kate to church on Christmas Day in Sandringham, where the Queen hosts Christmas.
A royal source told the Sun: ‘It will be so sweet. George and Charlotte will make their Christmas debut, as long as they’re both on good form on the day.
‘It’s the picture all royal fans want to see. The royals walking to church on Christmas Day is a rite of passage and so William and Kate didn’t want to expose their children too early, but they feel they’re old enough now.
Family was a big theme in the Mary Berry Christmas special, and William opened up about Princess Diana as well as his children
The Duchess gave Mary Berry, 84, a tour of her new play garden at RHS Wisley, and spoke about how much her children loved being outside
Louis, meanwhile, will stay at home with Kate’s parents as he’s still too young.
Family was a big theme in the Mary Berry Christmas special, and William opened up about Princess Diana.
He described how his mother took him to the homeless shelter as a child, teaching him that there was a life ‘beyond the palace walls’.
He said: ‘It was one of the first places I came to actually. I must have been eight or nine and it had a profound impact on me.
‘My mother knew what she was doing with it, she realised that it’s very important when you grow up, especially in the life we grew up in, that you realise life happens beyond the palace walls and that you see real people struggling with real issues.’
He also spoke about Prince Louis and how he ‘absolutely loves’ home grown beetroot, while admitting Prince George is a Chelsea fan, even though he is an Aston Villa supporter.

A Berry Royal Christmas also sees TV star Berry show Kate how to decorate cakes and mix a non-alcoholic cranberry juice cocktail

Kate said she tries to encourage her family to spend time together and ‘focus on the simple things’.
She described how her children collated a ‘crazy little’ collection of bits and pieces from various places that they proudly show grandparents and friends.
‘George thinks it’s a museum,’ she said. ‘It’s very sweet. It’s quite small, it’s full of these little treasures, whether it’s a crab’s claw or a little shell he’s found that he loves.
‘And that’s what’s so nice – for them their world’s quite small.’
William meanwhile revealed it was his wife who was the mastermind behind the mental health campaign spearheaded by the younger royals at Kensington Palace.
‘She realised that my work, Harry’s work and her work were all headed in different directions but all dealing with mental health.
‘She was the one who joined the dots and said we need to tackle mental health.’

Kate served the drink at The Brink, a dry bar set up by the charity Action on Addiction in Liverpool, of which she is patron.
‘It reminded me of my university days when I did a bit of waitressing,’ she said.
Asked by Berry whether she was any good, the duchess replied: ‘No – I was terrible.’
Berry and the duke know each other through their support of Child Bereavement UK, and the show came about as the celebrity cook wanted to learn more about the duke and duchess’s charities, particularly Kate’s work supporting the early years development of children.
