ONLY half of Britons will shut themselves away if family members develop virus symptoms, experts fear.

Lockdown rules say that if you share a home with someone who has a high fever or repetitive cough you must also self-isolate for 14 days.

The government also suggested that Brits must keep their distance by shutting schools and stay out of boozers for a year to beat the outbreak.

Boris Johnson said the country could “turn the tide” of coronavirus within 12 weeks if the public play their part.

But a behavioural study by SAGE (Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies) predicts that 50 per cent of people will be too selfish to comply.
