A NEIGHBOURHOOD in Warwickshire has been given the green light for their daily "Is This The Way To Amarillo?" march after the council rejected one resident's lockdown complaint.

The residents of Tysoe village recreate Peter Kay's classic Amarillo video on their street every morning as a way of beating the lockdown blues.

The organiser of the daily march, Ian Leaver said local police and councillors had received an official complaint about the parade earlier this week.

Every morning families have been leaving their homes and heading out to the street to dance to the famous song at 11 am every day since the restrictions have started.

But as the sing-song may have raised the hopes of the 50 people who took part, the street was told to "keep the noise down".

One resident in the village complained about the party and the street was ordered by councillors to "be more considerate".

At first, Mr Leaver told villagers that "it is with a saddened heart" he would have to stop the daily street dance.

But on Friday, after discussions with Stratford District Council, he was given the green light to resume the popular street event.

Ian told BirminghamLive: "I have spoken with the Stratford Council and we're okay to continue.  Just one resident complained to them.

"We haven't been banned, we were threatened with a noise nuisance order and a possible fine if it continues.

"We are back on every day at 11am. As Freddie Mercury says – the show must go on!"

A spokeswoman from Stratford District Council said they received a complaint regarding the playing of loud music daily from an address in the village.

"We asked them to take steps to resolve the matter without further involvement from the District Council," she said.

"The expectation was that they would moderate what they were doing in consideration for the neighbours – especially during the current lockdown with more people at home, who could be working or poorly.

"The District Council has not specifically or directly demanded that the music be stopped."

Lockdown restrictions, which began March 23, have been in place across the UK for just over four weeks.

On April 16, Dominic Raab told the UK that the measures would continue until May, with top officials saying it could be up to six months before we're allowed out again.

This is when the Government will review the situation and come back to us.

The hope is that the restrictions will ease off at that point and we can start going back to normal.
