A MONSTER dad reportedly blasted off half his two-year-old's son face with a shotgun during an argument with the child's mother.
Michael Christopher Glance has been charged with attempted murder after opening fire on the boy outside his Michigan home in apparent attempt to punish the mum.
It's been alleged the 32-year-old initially held a pistol to the child's head and pulled the trigger but it didn't fire before grabbing the shotgun.
Jackson County Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kati Rezmierski said the child's mother grabbed him and ran to the car in a desperate bid to escape.
However, then Glance came out of the house and followed them both with the shotgun, she said.
"He pointed the shotgun at the same two-year-old son of his that was strapped defenceless in the back seat of the car," Rezmierski told WILX.
"He pointed it at him and blew off half of his face."
FLED THE SCENE
He then fled the scene before being picked up by cops.
Glance later appeared in court to hear the charges against him, which include three counts of assault with intent to murder, and three felony firearms charges.
A forensic examiner will be called as a witness to testify whether or not he is mentally fit to stand trial.
The boy victim – reportedly called Ryker – was discharged from hospital after 27 days.
He underwent several surgical procederes to rebuild his face and a GoFundMe drive has so far raised around £60,000 for the family.
The child's family have revealed he is now doing well and they are overwhelmed about the level of support they received after the shocking incident.
His grandfather Doug McCarthy told MLive: "(He) still has a long road to recovery, and if it wasn’t for all the support, I don’t think we would have made it this far."
Glance faces life in prison if convicted on the assault with intent to murder charge.
