THIS is the moment a 71-year-old woman who had been missing for four days in a Gloucestershire forest is found alive.

Janice Warren disappeared from Lydney on Tuesday – sparking a desperate search as the area was hit with torrential downpours and thunderstorms.

But despite rescue crews fearing the worst, the elderly woman was miraculously found four days later, entangled in the undergrowth in the woodland area around Forest, Gloucestershire.

Members of the Severn Area Rescue Association had managed to find Ms Warren – saying they had been left delighted and relieved after she was found on Saturday.

A spokesperson said: "We were all delighted that she had been found alive.

"We had feared the worst as she had been missing for several days which includes some awful weather.

"It was a great result for the whole team, and really shows that all the training we do is worthwhile"

Gloucestershire Police had initially released an appeal for information after Ms Warren went missing on Tuesday, saying they held concerns for her welfare.

By Wednesday, rain had set in, continuing into Friday as extra crews were called in for the "arduous" search.

The area has a vast underground cave system which goes underneath the village and surrounding woodlands.

NEVER GIVING UP

On Saturday the numbers were boosted by members of Gloucestershire Cave Rescue Group, South Wales Search and Rescue Dog Association, and the Midlands Cave Rescue Organisation.

Thankfully, the gran was found in undergrowth near to Bream Rugby Club, in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, on Saturday afternoon.

She was quickly wrapped in thermal blankets and cared for by casualty carers until an ambulance arrived.

Granddaughter Emma Skidmore wrote on Facebook: "We cannot thank everyone enough for all the help, shares and searching you have all given.

"We are more grateful and over the moon and as you can imagine extremely happy.

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and please remember that mental health is a serious thing, so if at any point you see someone struggling please help."

Emergency services and rescuers have not said if Mrs Warren had been outside since she went missing.

It comes as hundreds of people have turned out in a desperate attempt to find a six-year-old boy who vanished when he fell into the water while fishing with his dad.

Lucas Dobson plunged into the water after he slipped as he tried to step from a jetty onto a boat in Sandwich, Kent.

The little boy's dad and pals dived in to try to save him but he was swept away by the strong current at 1.20pm  yesterday.
