A New Jersey woman allegedly killed her toddler son because he was getting in the way of her extramarital affair, it was revealed in a detention hearing on Wednesday.
Heather Reynolds, of Gloucester Township in Camden County, is charged with murder and child endangerment for the 2018 death of her 17-month-old son, Axel.
She allegedly suffocated the boy by holding a cleansing wipe over his nose and mouth in her home. She then ran from the house and screamed for help from neighbors.
The alleged motive came to light by prosecutors at a detention hearing Wednesday. Reynolds, 41, was ordered held in jail until her trial. She faces a possible life sentence.
Her lawyer has argued she had nothing to do with the death of her son.
