A missing 12-year-old girl, who vanished without a trace for a week from her home in Ayr, has been found safe and is now in ‘good hands’ with her family.
Jamie-Lee Harvie was last seen on Tuesday March 14 at Irvine train station near the south west coast of Scotland, boarding a train heading towards Glasgow.
A further sighting on the 18 March prompted police to renew their appeal to find the missing schoolgirl, saying that she was known to frequent the Irvine, Kilwinning and Saltcoats areas.
To her family’s relief, Jamie-Lee was found safe in the Irvine area and took to social media on Wednesday to thank those who helped in the search to find her.
Her uncle Steven Harvie wrote on Facebook: ‘My wee niece Jamie-Lee has now been found. Since the disappearance on Tuesday the 14th March after 8 days she has just recently been found.

‘Thanks to everyone in their contribution to finding her. From getting it posted over social media platforms to some people going out their way to find her, thank you.
Social media users following the case commented on the post to share their delight on finding out the good news.
One wrote: ‘Aww thank the lord she safe she’s been in ma thoughts every day.’
Another added: ‘Absolutely delighted this wee princess is home safe. Hope everything is ok.’
Mr Harvie had detailed the family’s agonising hunt for the missing 12-year-old, describing the ‘[extreme] amount of stress on the family’ the longer that she remained missing.
He added that Jamie-Lee had gone missing before, but never for this length of time.
Mr Harvie described how the family has been around the whole of Irvine, Kilwinning, Saltcoats, Ayr, checking CCTV and people’s houses.
North Ayrshire Police said: ‘Jamie-Lee Harvie, 12, who had been missing from Ayr since Tues, 14 March has been traced safe and well by officers in the Irvine area this afternoon.
‘Thank you to everyone who assisted in the search for Jamie-Lee, and thank you to members of the public for sharing our appeal’.
