A lorry crashed into an SUV while navigating a difficult roundabout and the footage leaves viewers divided about who is at fault.

The footage of the collision on Brownhills roundabout in Newark, Nottinghamshire, was recorded on a dashcam.

In the video, the car recording gets onto the dual-lane roundabout and heads towards the third exit.

As he progresses round, three vehicles can be seen ahead all on the same approach – a white van, a black SUV and a large lorry.

The white van and black SUV are in the left-hand lane and the large lorry is to the right.

The group continues toward the exit before the SUV attempts to continue round the roundabout and pulls out in front of the lorry who is trying to get to the take-off.

The lorry driver does not see the car pull in front of him until it is too late.

He hits the car and shunts it out of the way before suddenly applying the brake.

The SUV rolls back across the two lanes of the exit as the traffic behind comes to a standstill.

It is not believed that anyone was seriously injured during the crash as the lorry was not travelling at high speed.

Social media users have been left divided as to who was at fault during the collision.

Some believe that the SUV should have checked its blindspot before attempting to travel further round the roundabout.

But others think that the lorry tried to switch lanes too late without indicating properly.

From the video it is not clear how apparent the lane markings were to indicate the direction of each route.

Earlier this year, it was announced that the roundabout would be part of a £3million maintenance plan on the A46 that was expected to take six months.
