"CULT mom" Lori Vallow has been arrested in Hawaii five months after the disappearance of her two children, police said on Thursday.
Vallow, 47, was charged with two felony counts of desertion and nonsupport of dependent children among a string of other indictments.
Idaho children "JJ" Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 17, have been missing since September, but were not reported missing until Nov. 26, 2019 when police completed a welfare check at the request of JJ's grandparents.
Vallow never reported her own children missing.
The kids were last seen in Idaho, and there was no indication they were ever in Hawaii, police said.
Vallow will now attend a hearing on Kaua'i at an undetermined date.
The "cult mom" is held on $5 million bail at the Kaua'i Police Department, and will be able to waive or fight her extradition to Idaho, where she faces the charges, police said.
The charges and arrest on the warrant from Madison, County Idaho come weeks after the mother failed to produce her children.
A court order was issued on Jan. 25, demanding Vallow turn over her children to police in five days.
By Jan. 30, Vallow had failed to produce her children — and had little to say about where they are.
Police have said the couple have "repeatedly lied" about the children's whereabouts.
Vallow and her husband Chad Daybell — a religious writer that writes about the end of the world — were married just a few weeks after the children were last seen.
The couple have been living in Hawaii since mid-December, after authorities began to question where the children were.
Chief of Police Todd G. Raybuck thanked the public for their support in a statement when Vallow was arrested Thursday.
"First of all, we wish to thank the public for the massive outpouring of concern regarding this case," he said.
"We also want to thank everyone for their patience while investigators worked diligently to comprehensively gather everything they needed in order to obtain this arrest warrant."
In addition to the children's disappearance, several people close to the couple have died under mysterious circumstances.
Family members also claim Vallow and Daybell, 51, are members of a "dangerous doomsday cult."
Vallow and Daybell were pulled over in a black Ford Explorer along the Kuhio Highway in late January, according to East Idaho News.
They didn't have much to say to reporters who asked where Vallow's two children were.
Vallow and her husband issued a statement via Idaho lawyer Sean Bartholick denying the accusations in relation to the charges over the disappearance over their children late-January.
It read: "Chad Daybell was a loving husband and has the support of his children in this matter.
"Lori (Vallow) Daybell is a devoted mother and resents assertions to the contrary.
"We look forward to addressing the allegations once they have moved beyond speculation and rumor."
The "cult mom" and her husband were reportedly staying in a million-dollar home in Princeville, a gated Hawaiian community 16 miles away from where they were found.
Police served a search warrant on Jan. 26, four days before Vallow's deadline to produce her children.
Authorities searched the couple's rented car, in addition to the house they were renting in Princeville.
