JK ROWLING has rapped Sir Keir Starmer — saying he could “no longer be counted on to defend women’s rights”.

The Labour leader had said “trans women are women” and called for a more “respectful” debate on transgender issues.

But the Harry Potter author said he had misrepresented the law.

She tweeted: “Women are scared, outraged and angry at the deaf ear turned to their well-founded concerns. But women are organising.

“Now @Keir_Starmer publicly misrepresents equalities law, in yet another indication that @LabourUK can no longer be counted on to defend women’s rights.”

She shared a link to the story of Tory police and crime commissioner Lisa Townsend who has been reprimanded for sharing a Ms Rowling tweet in support of women’s rights.

Police will NOT take action against trans activists who targeted JK Rowling

A male-dominated panel of councillors found Lisa Townsend had not been ‘dignified or respectful’ to trans people when she supported the best-selling author’s view that biologically male rapists were not female.

They said the Surrey PCC had broken the code of conduct for her office and demanded she explain herself to the three men who had reported her over the tweet – one of whom is local Conservative MP Crispin Blunt.

Mrs Townsend has received anonymous death threats.

The author said women were angry “at attempts to threaten and intimidate them”.
