A SMALL Italian town has spent £68,000 on a statue of Donald Trump in a bizarre attempt to attract tourists to the area.

The President has been immortalised in the rural Tuscan community of Vagli di Sotto which is developing an odd attraction called the ‘Park of Honour and Dishonour’.

The park features heroes and notable villains from around the world including British rock icon David Bowie and cowardly Costa Concordia cruise ship captain Francesco Schettino.

Trump will also stand alongside Diesel – the gallant police dog killed during a raid in the 2015 Paris attacks.

But the town’s mayor Mario Puglia insists that is it too early in the Republican's Presidential reign to deicde what side of the park he will be placed on.

Speaking with The Local, he said: “I'm not going to enter in discussion over whether his actions are right or wrong.

“But at the moment Trump is the only politician who is following through on his promises, doing what he said on the campaign trail.”

Funded by private donations, the eclectic array of statues also utilise the area’s famed marble.

When asked whether he thought the strange tribute would entice the President to come and visit the town, Mayor Puglia said: “I don't think he will come, because of everything he has to do.”

Meanwhile, Trump has denied he has ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin while suggesting Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran never faced such scrutiny.

The US president tweeted on Tuesday: “I don’t know Putin, have no deals in Russia, and the haters are going crazy – yet Obama can make a deal with Iran, #1 in terror, no problem!”

His tweet came just days after criticism from Republican and Democratic lawmakers over the president’s off-the-cuff response when Fox News host Bill O’Reilly’s labelled Putin a “killer”.

In an interview with Fox News, the new US President said: “There are a lot of killers. We’ve got killers. What do you think? Our country’s so innocent?”

The tycoon then said he respected Putin, whose belligerence is causing tension among the Baltic states, and would prefer to “get along with him”.
