A "HEARTBROKEN" Prince Harry has today arrived for a showdown at Sandringham after announcing he and Meghan Markle quit as royals.

The Duke of Sussex was ushered into the Norfolk estate for crunch talks with the Queen, Prince William and dad Prince Charles this morning – with his wife to dial in from Canada to discuss their future.

Prince Harry arrived just after 11am, while William – who has been staying at the nearby Amber Hall – arrived at 1.45pm, just before the meeting was set to start at 2pm.

Ahead of the unprecedented crisis talks:

  • Prince Harry is said to be "heartbroken" to cut ties with the royal family but Meghan Markle has warned "it's not working"
  • Meghan is expected to phone in for the summit after heading back to Canada
  • Prince William and Prince Harry released a joint statement denying claims Harry had been "bullied" out
  • A tense Kate Middleton was spotted leaving Kensington Palace before husband Prince William is expected at the Norfolk estate
  • Prince Philip – said to be furious over Harry and Meghan's announcement – was pictured leaving Sandringham
  • Harry was filmed touting wife Meghan for voiceover work, with it since revealed she would work with Disney
  • Piers Morgan slammed the couple as "two spoiled brats" who were holding the monarchy to ransom

The couple left the royal family reeling when they revealed they would step down as senior royals and split their time between Northern America and the UK.

And the Duke of Sussex has been left to pick up the pieces at the crunch talks today after Meghan, 38, fled to Canada.

The summit talks reportedly started about 2pm – making it 6am in North America to allow the duchess to dial in.

It has been reported the Royal Family had not been consulted before the Sussexes released their statement – with the palace saying there were "complicated issues that will take time to work through".

Harry, 35, was originally said by a royal source to have felt pushed out of the royal family by his big brother, reported The Times.

According to repeated reports, Harry felt that William was insufficiently welcoming towards Meghan when they first started dating.

Their relationship has apparently not recovered since.

But in a joint statement released today, the brothers said: "Despite clear denials, a false story ran in a UK newspaper today speculating about the relationship between The Duke of Sussex and The Duke of Cambridge.

"For brothers who care so deeply about the issues surrounding mental health, the use of inflammatory language in this way is offensive and potentially harmful."

Today, the 93-year-old monarch aims to define what the future roles of Meghan and Harry will be.

This includes how the couple will be able to continue supporting charities while not conflicting with any private work they might undertake to become financially independent.

Announcing their decision last week, Harry and Meghan said they wanted to "carve out a progressive new role within this institution".

They also said they wanted to continue their work with charities "while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen."

A source told The Times overnight: "She wants to leave … She thinks: 'It's not working for me'.

"Harry is under intense pressure to choose. It is sad. He loves the Queen. He loves this country.

"He loves all his military stuff and I think it will genuinely break his heart to leave.

"I don't think that's what he really wants. I think they want some halfway house."

'UNITED FRONT'

Despite the rift between the brothers, the Queen and Prince Charles’s priority is keeping them united for the sake of the monarchy, insiders have revealed.

The monarch has been left "deeply hurt" by the announcement.

Prince Philip – who was today pictured leaving Sandringham ahead of the talks – is said to be furious as to the decision.

The meeting comes after royal reports suggested the couple had "no plans" to give a tell-all US TV interview to get their way at the royal summit.

Her American PR team is already in touch with major US networks and chat show queen Oprah Winfrey.

The couple could use the TV threat to try to secure a better deal at the Sandringham talks.

Amid crisis talks and upset at the bombshell, The Sunday Times reported the Duke of Cambridge hopes one day everyone will "play on the team" again.

He said: "I've put my arm around my brother all our lives and I can't do that anymore; we're separate entities. I'm sad about that.

"All we can do, and all I can do, is try and support them and hope that the time comes when we're all singing from the same page."

Wills is said to have made the remarks days after Harry and Meghan announced they are stepping down as senior royals and plan to spend much of their time abroad.
