HATE preacher Anjem Choudary has mocked attempts to reform him — calling the Government’s Prevent programme “a waste of time”.

The 54-year-old also said the scheme to identify and de-radicalise extremists was wasting millions of pounds.

Choudary, jailed for 5½ years over his IS support, said he was assigned a reformed jihadi who tried to steer him from his extreme Islamist creed.

He met weekly with Manwar Ali — who had fought in Afghanistan, Kashmir and Burma.

Choudary, who still spews extremist views online, said: “We never talked about jihad or sharia or anything like that.

"It was a complete waste of time.

"We had small talk for two years."
