Harry and Meghan have left Windsor! Lego mural of the couple is removed after being targeted by pigeons – and locals not sure if they want it back following royal crisis

  • Lego mural of Harry and Meghan has been carted away from Windsor Station
  • It has been removed to be cleaned but locals unsure whether they want it back
  • The 60,000 brick mural was created to celebrate the couple’s engagement
  • ‘Given what has taken place we will be talking with the vendors to see what we will do,’ said centre manager Sue Watts

Harry and Meghan have left their hometown of Windsor – after being dumped on by the local wildlife.

A giant mural of the couple made from 60,000 Lego bricks has had to be taken down from display after being covered with pigeon poo.

Staff at the Windsor Royal Station shopping centre removed the art work for cleaning and also to replace several of the multi-coloured bricks that had been stolen.

But with the real life Harry and Meghan moving to Canada shopping centre management are undecided if the Lego design will go back on show.

‘It has been removed for cleaning after we noticed one pigeons had created a mess on it. There were also some of the bricks missing. It is in an empty shop while waiting to be cleaned.’

The shopping centre, which is adjacent to Windsor Castle, commissioned an outside firm to make the intricate art work depicting the couple’s official engagement photo.

It was placed in the shopping centre in the run up to the royal wedding and became a popular spot for ‘selfies’ from visiting tourists.

The Lego build was due to be auctioned off later this year with proceeds going to a local hospice for children.

Staff who work in the shopping centre said they also feared with the ‘Megxit’ announcement the art work could be vandalised.

‘If you are angry with Meghan and Harry it is the perfect target,’ said one shop assistant.

‘All you had to do was pull out a few bricks and it would spoil the whole look.’

One shopper who witnessed the lego bricks being removed said:’ I’,m not a huge fan of the couple, but at least they were local to the area.

‘I suppose with their decision to quit the royal family there is no reason to have them here still. Anyone who is angry at what they have done could easily pull out a few bricks. I can’t see it coming back as they are no longer really going to be here.’

American tourist Gus Menkes said: ‘ It’s a real shame about Meghan and Harry but we came here to see the Castle and not seeing a Lego model of them doesn’t bother me.’
