But a massive shock was in store for the group when they later opened the safe, according to one of the directors of the construction firm targeted.
John said the £15 sex toy was found during a limo ride in Blackpool a decade ago.
The 51-year-old said it had been locked up in the safe ever since as a ‘keepsake’.
Speaking today, John said: ‘It’s got f*** all in the safe. It was a vibrator, 12 inches and glow in the dark. It was in the back of a limousine left by a hen do.’

He added: ‘Their faces will be a picture when they open it expecting money but only finding a sex toy. It will probably take them about two hours to open.’
The footage shows a man placing a ladder against the wall before climbing up.
A safe is then thrown from the building with the entire window coming down with it.
The men can be seen struggling to move it towards the car and then eventually lifting it into the vehicle.
The clip ends with John saying: ‘Well what’s in there lads is a big vibrator mate, so have fun.’
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: ‘At around 9.15pm on Tuesday 7 January 2020, police were called to reports of a burglary at a commercial property on Tonge Bridge Way, Bolton.
‘A safe was stolen.’
