GRACE Millane's killer Jesse Kempson showed five signs he was a twisted sociopath with a history of violence against women before he strangled her and stuffed her body into a suitcase.
Among the chilling warning signs were one of his ex-flatmates sleeping with a knife when she was alone with him, and Kempson posing as a CIA hitman to terrorise his ex-girlfirend.
Body language experts said the convicted killer also revealed a raft of chilling characteristics like a craving for power, victim-blaming tendencies and controlling behaviour.
The 28-year-old was also convicted of raping a British tourist months before Grace's death.
Depraved Kempson, was sentenced to life in prison for killing Grace, 21, in his rented studio flat at the CityHigh hotel in Auckland, New Zealand.
Lawyers for the defendant argued the Brit had died during "rough" sex after consensual choking went wrong.
Her body was later stuffed into a suitcase coffin and buried in a shallow grave with a blanket of mud shovelled on top.
But a trial found Grace's death was intentional and prolonged.
Kempson still denies the murder and claims her death was a tragic accident after.
A court suppression order protecting Kempson's name from being released to the public was lifted in December last year.
FLATMATES SLEPT WITH KNIVES
And now an ex-flatmate of the killer, Millie Mason, has spoken out about the chilling signs Kempson was a twisted sociopath.
As part of a new ITV documentary due to air on Monday, Millie revealed: "We just all started getting a bad feeling.
Speaking on the show, The Murder of Grace Millane: Social Media Murders, she said: “One night when I wasn’t at the house, neither was one of my other flatmates, so it was just the one girl left alone in the house.
"He came back, he was drunk – and she was scared enough that she slept with a knife that night.
“We eventually stopped wanting to be alone in the house with him. You just knew you shouldn’t be near him alone.
"It does make you wonder, what else he was hiding. What else wasn’t true?”
Millie, who lived with Kempson for a short time two years before Grace was brutally murdered in 2018, has told of the moment she found out her former flatmate was the killer.
“It was awful,” she said.
“The friend of ours who took the room after Jesse moved out messaged us three girls, and we were all living in London at the time.
“We’d been following the story because people don’t really go missing in New Zealand, let alone a young girl. I woke up to our group chat and he said ‘It was Jesse’.
“I completely get how Grace fell for him because he’s charming. It took us weeks to realise that we shouldn’t be in this situation and we shouldn’t be near this person.”
CONTROLLING BEHAVIOUR
Kempson lured Grace to her death after arranging a Tinder date.
On their date he showed chilling signs of "control" and "power," a body language expert has claimed.
Expert Judi James said JKempson could have sent "mixed messages" to dupe poor Grace during their night out.
CCTV cameras captured her being hugged by the brute as they first met, before Kempson is seen embracing Grace at other bars throughout the city.
Judi said: "Several of his rituals look controlling and worrying here.
"His initial greeting ritual involves a two-arm hug that he signals from a distance. He is a big guy and already he looks overpowering."
'BLAMED GRACE FOR HER DEATH'
And the sicko also showed signs he blamed Grace for her own death.
In analysed footage of the convicted murderer's police interview, body language experts say Kempson let off movements that showed he was lying about how she died.
At first, Kempson tells cops the Brit died as a result of rough sex gone wrong.
Analysing the interview, Archer said: "I’m calling it the blame shifting strategy, and I’ve found 21 examples.
"I would describe it as making Grace the acting initiator. So, she’s the one doing the asking and he’s the one doing the responding."
Fellow body language expert Dr Cliffe Lansley says Kempson's behaviour suggests he was angry rwhen probed by cops, further indicating the story about Grace's death was fabricated.
He said: "What he’s mimicking with his gestures and his upper lip is violent anger. So, the upper lip is tightened, the upper margin of his lip has rolled inwards into the mouth. This is anger.
"He seems to be reliving that moment not only cognitively but emotionally, and it’s oozing out of his pours and it’s almost like it’s a replay of the moment. A violent, angry episode, not a sad, desperate, fearful episode."
POSED AS CIA HITMAN
It was also revealed Kempson posed asCIA hitmanand faked cancer to lure women into his dark clutches.
It was claimed he was a twisted liar who told women he was a globe-trotting spy.
And during his murder trial, the court heard how he was a delusional narcissist who had regularly targeted women and girls with his fabrications..
It was revealed he lied “frequently and repeatedly” to Grace and other women he met online.
He had previously claimed to be dying from cancer, be the cousin of a famous All Black rugby star, have gang connections and posed as a playboy on Tinder.
He even boasted of plans to buy a glamorous restaurant on Auckland's waterfront.
And in another trial, Kempson was convicted in October of terrorising his girlfriend over a period of months.
He subjected her to violent assaults, threatened her with a butcher’s knife and forced her into humiliating sex acts after telling her he had been sent by the CIA to kill her.
RAPED A BRITISH WOMAN
Sick Kempson also raped a British tourist months before killing Grace.
His victim bravely told a court "every time I went to sleep, I'd see your eyes popping out of your head, staring at me in anger."
He lured the victim, then 21, into a Tinder date before taking her back to his motel room apartment.
Furious at her refusal to have sex after he had bought her drinks and dinner Kempson raped her while she lay on the bed.
She kept the attack secret until she recognised him from media coverage the day he was charged with Grace’s murder and went straight to police.
Kempson was convicted of the rape in November.
In a statement read to the court at his sentencing, the victim revealed she had woken up "crying and screaming" terrified he would one day track her down.
"Every time I went to sleep, I'd see your eyes popping out of your head, staring at me in anger," she said.
In November 2019, Kempson was tried and convicted for Grace's murder and sentenced to life in prison.
He will serve a minimum of 17 years in jail.
