THE Finnish prime minister has been forced to deny she was on drugs after leaked footage showed her twerking at a wild party with a group of pals.

Dubbed the "coolest politician in the world" due to her relaxed style of leadership, Sanna Marin, 36, has been previously criticised for her wild lifestyle.

The video posted on social media shows Marin with Finnish singer Alma, rapper Petri Nygard as well as TV host Tinni Wikstrom, influencers and members of her own Social Democratic party.

The clip was then published online by the Finnish tabloid newspaper, Iltalehti, and shows Marin dancing, singing and drinking with pals in what appears to be an apartment.

Speaking to reporters today, Marin denied using drugs at the bash and said she had "nothing to conceal or hide".

She said: "I'm disappointed that it has become public. I spent the evening with friends. Partied, pretty wild, yes. Danced and sang.

"I have not used drugs myself, or anything other than alcohol.

"I've danced, sung and partied and done perfectly legal things. I have also not been in a situation where I would know that others are doing it that way.

She said: "I haven't used any drugs, so it's not a problem to take a drug test, but I also think it's quite special that something like this is required.

"I didn't see any evidence that anything was used anywhere."

She added: "I trusted that since the videos are private and published at a private event, they would not be published. It feels bad that they have been published."

According to reports, Marin said the videos were filmed a couple of weeks ago and the evening had been spent in two separate flats, with about twenty people – and the group also went to two bars.

Marin's wild ways have already landed her in trouble in her home country and attracted lots of media attention.

Last year, she was forced to apologise for going clubbing at 4am despite having been in contact with a Covid case.

She attended dinner and drinks just hours after her Foreign Minister tested positive for Covid claiming she was told she did not need to isolate because she was fully vaccinated.

However, she said she had missed a text message which advised her to do the opposite because she only had her personal phone and not her government phone with her at the time.

Critics slammed her "careless" approach to running a country, stating she should always have her government phone with her in case of emergencies.

In a statement on Facebook, she said: " I am very sorry for not understanding that I needed to do that."

In October 2020, In an interview for lifestyle magazine Trendi, she was photographed wearing a blazer with nothing underneath.

It again sparked public controversy after she was accused of demeaning her office whilst others branded the comments sexist.

This week German newspaper Bild dubbed Marin the "coolest politician in the world" and she appears to be a big hit with modern Millennials.

They wrote: "She is the most important politician in her country, has to lead it through one of the most dangerous crises of her time because of the warlike activity of her neighbour Russia – and still finds time to celebrate.

"Casual, modern and self-confident – that’s how politics can work. Marin stands for the ‘cool generation’, which Putin definitely doesn’t like."

A column in Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter however accused the Finnish PM of "celebrity a** licking" saying that she "seems to love surrounding herself with celebrities and likes to pose on social media".

The leader has been an outspoken Putin critic since the beginning of the Ukraine invasion in February.

Along with Sweden's PM Magdalena Andersson, the pair have led the way for the two neutral countries to join NATO.

This week Marin also announced that Finland would be cutting tourist visas for Russians down to just 10 percent of its current amount.

The young prime minister rose to power after becoming a member of parliament in 2015 at just 30 years old.

She was handed the leadership just four years later following the resignation of Prime Minister Antti Rinne.
